Understanding the Why - Critical Reflection to Develop an Inquiry Based Question

My Initial Personal Reflection
Before diving into this inquiry based research I had so many questions and concerns in relation to teaching ELL and immigrant students, specifically in regard to their socio-emotional learning, the trauma they may have experienced, and of course the cultural shock that many ELL endure. It was overwhelming to think about the amount of challenges these students and their families face when integrating into a new school, let alone a new country and or community. This being said, it did not surprise me to find out that educators struggle to understand and address the challenges ELL and immigrant students face on a daily basis. Due to the complexity of this topic I had a hard time narrowing down my inquiry question, but as I continued my research and engaged in critical dialogue with both Dean and my peers, I kept coming back to the importance of community supports and partnerships, and how powerful integrating community relationships is in relation to the overall wellbeing of ELL and their families.
